Scrapease- UX Case Study
ScrapEase is an online platform that connects waste producers with collectors, making it easy to buy, sell, and manage scrap. Users can schedule pickups, locate local rag shops, and contribute to sustainable waste management. The project aims to support ragpickers, streamline waste collection, and promote recycling through an accessible, user-friendly design process.
ScrapEase is an online platform designed to bridge the gap between waste producers and collectors, making it easy to buy, sell, and manage scrap online. Users can connect with local scrap pickers, schedule pickups, locate neighborhood rag shops, and find sustainable ways to dispose of or purchase recyclable materials. This project aims to streamline waste collection, support ragpickers, and promote recycling in urban areas, addressing the lack of accessibility, structure, and awareness in the current waste management ecosystem. Through ScrapEase, users can contribute to cleaner cities and a more sustainable future.
Design Process:
Discover: Conducted secondary research on India’s waste crisis, waste management gaps, and the essential role of rag pickers.
Define: Identified the lack of accessibility to scrap services and challenges faced by ragpickers, such as limited resources, lack of community support, and inadequate sorting.
Dream: Envisioned a solution that links users with scrap collectors seamlessly, while educating and supporting ragpickers.
Design: Created user flows and UI prototypes to simplify scheduling, buying, and selling scrap, ensuring an intuitive experience for all users.
Deliver: Finalized a user-centric platform that addresses accessibility, supports ragpickers’ livelihoods, and encourages sustainable waste management.
